Gem State Young Marines
Gem State Young Marines meets for "drill" from 18:30 to 20:30 on Tuesdays at the Nampa Civic Center located at 311 3rd St. South in Nampa, ID.
What is Young Marines?
First, we should say what we are not:
- We are NOT a "scared straight" program. The program is for kids who want to be good. The structure of our program is not suitable for troubled youth.
- We are NOT a place to "fix" your kids. Yes, Young Marines may help your child to learn respect and discipline, but we only have kids three to six of the 168 hours in a week. We are not miracle workers.
- We are NOT a discount daycare. Parents should have interest and involvement in the Young Marines. This is a volunteer organization and the leaders are not paid for their involvement. Do not treat them as babysitters.
- We are NOT a recruiting program for the Marines or any branch of service. Many of our staff are active-duty, former, or retired military, but Young Marines are not obligated to enlist. The program is structured like a military program and strives to instill qualities that will be beneficial to those who participate, regardless of their future plans.
So, who are we?
- The Young Marines is a youth education and service program for boys and girls, ages 8 through completion of high school.
- The Young Marines is the official youth program of the Marine Corps League and promotes the moral and physical development of its members.
- The program focuses on character building, leadership, and promotes a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
- The Young Marines is the official youth program of the U.S. Marine Corps and the focal point for the Marine Corps’ Youth Drug Demand Reduction effort.
